Overview
An easy day along the Atlantic shore around the capital: the beaches and little harbour of Temara, the Rose-Marie and Skhirat coves to the south, the cliff at Contrebandiers, and the dunes of Plage des Nations to the north — with a fresh-fish lunch by the sea.
Rabat sits on the Atlantic, and its own coastline is one of the nicest and least-touristed parts of the capital region. South of the city the shore runs through Temara — with its small fishing harbour, the Contrebandiers (Smugglers') cave that yielded some of the oldest known human remains and clothing tools in North Africa — and on to the resort coves of Skhirat, long favoured by Rabatis for a weekend by the sea.
North of the river mouth, past Salé, the wide beach and dunes of Plage des Nations open onto the open ocean. We shape the day to the weather and your taste: swimming and rock pools, a coastal walk, the little ports, and above all a long lunch of grilled fish and seafood at a seaside table. A relaxed, local day with no monuments — just the capital's own Atlantic.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Atlantic Coast — Temara, Skhirat & Plage des Nations" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own Rabat driver-guide, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the itinerary or start time?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Shift the start time, swap a site, add the Mohammed VI Museum or a riverside lunch — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
Where does the tour start?
We collect you from any hotel or riad in Rabat or Salé, or from Rabat–Salé airport (RBA) or the Rabat-Ville / Rabat-Agdal train stations. Tell us where you're staying and we'll confirm the pickup point.
When should I book?
Most day and half-day tours can be arranged with a few days' notice; weekends and holidays fill faster, so a week ahead is safest.
Is this a swimming day or a sightseeing day?
Both, as you like. The Atlantic here has real surf and currents, so swimming depends on conditions and is best in the sheltered coves; many guests come mainly for the coastal walks, the little ports and the seafood lunch. We adapt to the weather on the day.
Is the Contrebandiers cave open to enter?
The cave is an active archaeological site and access to the interior is restricted, so we view it and its setting from the approach while your guide explains its significance — it produced some of the oldest known bone tools used to work leather and fur in Africa.
