Getting there
Two simple ways to make the hop, then a guided day waiting at the other end. Train times and fares change with the season, so confirm the live ONCF schedule before you travel.
Rabat and Casablanca are linked by frequent ONCF trains, including the Al Boraq high-speed line. The journey runs roughly an hour each way, with departures through most of the day. Get off at Rabat-Ville for the medina and the Kasbah of the Udayas, or Rabat-Agdal for the high-speed services. Confirm live times and fares on the official ONCF app before you travel.
Casablanca sits about 90 km south-west of Rabat on the A1 motorway, roughly 60–90 minutes by car depending on Casablanca traffic. The capital's monuments
Rabat's historic core — the Kasbah of the Udayas, the medina, the Hassan Tower and Chellah — is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and it all sits close together. A day is enough to do it justice.

The Hassan Tower is the unfinished 44-metre minaret of an Almohad mosque begun in 1195 under Yacoub al-Mansour; across the esplanade, the white-marble Mausoleum of Mohammed V — carved cedar, onyx and zellige — is open to respectfully dressed visitors of all faiths and watched over by the royal guard.
Hassan Tower half-day tourThe oldest part of Rabat, perched where the Bouregreg meets the Atlantic. Enter through the carved Almohad gate Bab Oudaia (c. 1195), wander the blue-and-white lanes painted by Andalusian refugees, walk the ocean ramparts and the Andalusian Gardens, then drop into the calm, walkable medina and the Rue des Consuls for carpets, leather and silver.
Kasbah of the Udayas half-day tourTwo ruins in one set of walls. Beneath lies the Roman river port of Sala Colonia — forum, arch and baths; above, the 14th-century Merinid sultans built a walled royal necropolis with a leaning minaret now crowned by a stork's nest. A sunken garden, a saint's pool and clattering storks make it one of the most atmospheric places in Morocco — and an easy finish to a day from Casablanca.
