Overview

A full day to Casablanca, an hour south of Rabat: the colossal Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic (one of the largest in the world, and open to visitors on a guided ticket), the Corniche, the old medina and the Art Deco city centre.

Casablanca is barely an hour from Rabat and makes an easy day. Its centrepiece is the Hassan II Mosque — completed in 1993, built partly over the ocean, with a 210m minaret and room for tens of thousands of worshippers. It is one of the very few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, on a timed guided tour, and the interior of carved cedar, marble, granite and titanium-clad doors is extraordinary.

From there your guide takes you along the Corniche at Aïn Diab, into the old medina, past the Art Deco and Mauresque architecture of the city centre around Place Mohammed V, and — on request — to the United Nations Square and the Habous quarter. A relaxed, accurate day pairing the capital with Morocco's largest city and its most famous modern monument.

Frequently asked

Questions about this tour.

Is "Casablanca & the Hassan II Mosque" private or a group tour?

100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own Rabat driver-guide, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.

Can I change the itinerary or start time?

Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Shift the start time, swap a site, add the Mohammed VI Museum or a riverside lunch — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.

Where does the tour start?

We collect you from any hotel or riad in Rabat or Salé, or from Rabat–Salé airport (RBA) or the Rabat-Ville / Rabat-Agdal train stations. Tell us where you're staying and we'll confirm the pickup point.

When should I book?

Most day and half-day tours can be arranged with a few days' notice; weekends and holidays fill faster, so a week ahead is safest.

Can I go inside the Hassan II Mosque?

Yes — it is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, on timed guided tours (typically several daily, fewer on Fridays). We schedule the day around an available slot. Modest dress is required and shoes are removed inside.

How long is the drive from Rabat to Casablanca?

About an hour by motorway each way — Casablanca is the easiest big day trip from the capital, which is why we can also pair it with the Hassan II Mosque, the Corniche and the medina all in one comfortable day.
